Tour Banteay Srei and some of Siem Reap's lesser known gems in this full day tour.
There are several sites visited on this tour. Unlike the other temples built through royal patronage, Banteay Srei alone was privately built, which is thought to be a reason for its modest scale. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in decoration, almost all the surfaces covered in fine stone carvings. The temple-pyramid of Pre Rup dates from the reign of King Rajendravarman, dedicated around 962. Ta Som is a small Buddhist Temple dedicated to the father of King jayavarman VIi, the most prolific builder of the Angkor Empire. Neak Pean consists of a fountain built in the middle of a poll representing the paradisiacal Himalayan mountain lake. Preah Khan, also a product of the Jayavarman VII era, has been partially restored but left to the jungle and the devouring strangler-fig trees whose roots grasp the masonary like the talons of a great bird.
